The Indian Army has released the Agniveer Recruitment 2026 notification, offering over 25,000 vacancies across various roles. This nationwide recruitment drive, under the Agnipath scheme, is open to candidates with 8th-12th pass and graduation qualifications, depending on the post. The application period runs from February 13 to April 1, 2026, and interested applicants can submit their applications online at joinindianarmy.nic.in.
The selection process is a three-stage affair, comprising a Computer-Based Test (CBT), a Recruitment Rally, and Document Verification. The CBT, also known as the CEE, assesses candidates in subjects like General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, and General English. The exam pattern varies by post, with GD posts requiring 50 questions for 100 marks, while technical and Clerk/Storekeeper posts demand 50 questions for 200 marks.
Physical requirements include a minimum height of 170 cm and a chest measurement of 77 cm (with 5 cm expansion). Processing charges of Rs. 250 are applicable, payable online through the SBI Portal. The selection criteria also include a 1.6 km run, pull-ups, a 9 ft ditch, zig-zag balance, physical measurement examination, and a medical examination during the Recruitment Rally.
Those selected will receive a specially designed monthly salary, starting at Rs. 30,000 in the first year and increasing by Rs. 5,000 annually, reaching Rs. 40,000 by the fourth year. However, the in-hand salary will be lower due to a 30% contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, matched by the Government of India annually. This scheme offers a unique opportunity for young individuals to serve their nation and gain valuable skills.
